In recent years, Georgia has seen a growing interest in foreign disease-resistant grape clones. These hybrids, created by crossing Vitis vinifera with wild resistant species, offer significant ecological and economic advantages, particularly in reducing fungicide use. This article explores the potential, challenges, and biochemical properties of these clones in Georgian viticulture, including their use in wi-ne and non-wine applications. The high concentration of biologically active compounds, such as poly-phenols and resveratrol, positions them as a promising resource for sustainable agriculture and health-focused industries. Traditional grape varieties do not possess the same level of natural disease resis-tance. Therefore, they require regular chemical treatment to protect against fungal diseases. Disease-resistant clones, thanks to their genetic composition and defense mechanisms, are not dependent on external intervention but rather produce the necessary protective compounds themselves.
